About Övik Energi
It can be difficult to grasp what we at Övik Energi do, especially if you are new in town. Here you find a short briefing of our history, what kind of services we provide and how you as a customer can contact us if you need.
Our history
We have a long history that spans over 120 years. Here is a short timeline of happenings that defines what we provide to you today.
- 1895 The first electricity is generated in Örnsköldsvik by the company de Laval.
- 1897 Elektriska Aktiebolaget is founded in Örnsköldsvik.
- 1977 Örnsköldsviks Elverk expands their business and starts to produce and deliver district heating. The name of the company is changed to Örnsköldsviks Energiverk.
- 1993 The municipal assembly of Örnsköldsvik decides to reconstruct Örnsköldsviks Energiverk into an incorporated company, owned by the municipality. The name is changed to Övik Energi AB.
- 1999 Övik Energi AB expands their business and starts to build and provide an optical fiber network for internet connection.
Our services
Our main services that we provide to you as a customer is electricity, district heating and fiber connection. Electricity network operator and supplier
We are an electricity network operator with more than 120 years of experience. We deliver electricity home to our customers through our own electricity network, located in the city center of Örnsköldsvik, that we continuously maintain to secure a stable stream of electricity all the way home to you. If you are in the process of building a new facility, we are in charge of connecting it to our network. We at Övik Energi can also help you find the best suitable solution for you regarding electricity supply. If you don’t choose an electricity supplier of your own, you will automatically get a designated contract, where the price is more expensive. It should be easy to find the right form of electricity agreement, and here you can choose between both a fixed and a variable electricity price - whatever fits you the best. All the electricity we sell is 100 % renewable.
District heating
Did you know that our district heating is locally produced, with most of the biofuel that is used in the process originating from the woods and forests in and around Örnsköldsvik? District heating requires minimal supervision and is very reliable. You get a safe and easy way of warming up your home and you have an endless supply of warm water to your shower. It’s affordable, and it basically runs itself - it just works!
Fiber network
Today, we all have high expectations on our internet connection - We want it to be both fast and stable! With a fiber connection from Övik Energi, the capacity is close to endless, and it’s always ready to adapt to your needs. That means that you can game, browse the internet or stream your favorite shows without any limitation. And you have also made a great investment ready for the future! We believe that you should be able to make your own choice. Therefore, you have the possibility to choose your own internet service provider in our optical fiber network. We have a wide range of providers to choose from, and it’s up to you to find the one that suits your needs the best.
